Foreign Language Books

The section for foreign language books is located on the fourth floor of the Central Library where we stock materials written in foreign languages as well as Japanese materials written for non-native speakers. The Foreign Language section features useful reading and pamphlets about life in Japan as well as a section of guidebooks to Japan. Library users can consult the materials to learn about their host country including the Japanese lifestyle and customs, the arts and traditional culture. While the library aims to be a welcoming place for foreign users, it also wishes to foster international understanding among Japanese users.

Vienna

In August 1992 the City of Fuchu and the Hernals district in Vienna forged a friendship city agreement. Since then, the public library in Hernals and the Fuchu City Public Library have engaged in a series of exchanges including swapping published materials. Our section on Vienna contains materials and objects presented as gifts from Hernals as well as materials about Vienna from our own library collection. In addition to books, the section also stocks CDs providing users an opportunity to sample the music of Vienna, the City of Music. We hope users will enjoy the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Vienna on a visit to the library.
